One of the most promising artists of his generation, the Austrian pianist Lukas Sternath (*2001 in Vienna) has already performed in some of the world’s biggest halls and won several prizes at internationally renowned piano competitions. At the ARD Music Competition 2022, he not only won first prize, but also two special prizes and the audience prize. In 2021, he received the 3rd Prize and Marisa Windisch Prize at the 63rd International Ferruccio Busoni Piano Competition in Bolzano as well as the 2nd Prize and Audience Award both at the 14th International Schubert Piano Competition in Dortmund and the 17th European Piano Competition in Bremen.
Lukas Sternath is currently working with pianist Igor Levit at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. He received his earlier musical education from Anna Malikova and Alma Sauer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Further mentors include Sir András Schiff, Till Fellner and Ingolf Wunder.
Moreover, he has already performed at prestigious concert venues in Austria (Großer Saal and Brahms-Saal of the Wiener Musikverein; Großer Saal, Mozart-Saal and Schubert-Saal of the Wiener Konzerthaus; Großer Saal of the Festspielhaus St. Pölten) and abroad (in the USA, Canada, China, Great Britain, Norway, Italy, Hungary, Germany, Switzerland and Slovakia).
Lukas Sternath played with various orchestras including the Tonkünstler Orchestra, the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Haydn Orchestra, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Franz Schmidt Chamber Orchestra as well as the Bruno Walter Chamber Orchestra. Additionally, he collaborated with leading ensembles such as the Schumann Quartet and the Simply Quartet. Since 2019 he has been a member of the “Ensemble Spielraum”.
