Konstantin Krimmel, of German-Romanian descent, received his first musical training with the St. Georgs Chorknaben in Ulm. At the age of 21, he began his vocal studies with Prof. Teru Yoshihara, graduating with distinction in 2020. Since then he has been coached by Tobias Truniger in Munich. Already during his studies, the artist developed a special love for the concert and Lied repertoire, which he constantly expanded. Winning numerous competitions has decisively advanced his career. In the years 2021-2023, Konstantin Krimmel will be promoted as a BBC New Generation Artist.
Accordingly, Konstantin Krimmel is already touring nationally and internationally: Lieder recitals at the Kölner Philharmonie, at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as well as at the Konzerthaus Berlin, at the Frankfurt Opera, at the Heidelberger Frühling, guest at the Schubertíada de Vilabertran as well as at the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, in Madrid, in London (Wigmore Hall), at the Concertgebouw and at the Oxford Lied Festival. In the 23/24 season there will be more than 20 lieder recitals, among others in Madrid, Dortmund, London, Vilabertran, Elmau, Munich, for the first time in Vienna (Konzerthaus) and Schwarzenberg/Hohenems. In a joint project with the pianist Hélène Grimaud, he will perform Valentin Silvestrov’s “Silent Songs” as well as songs by Brahms at the Klavierfestival Ruhr and in Luxembourg.
In the concert field, the artist will also be involved in a number of wonderful projects, including the Brahms Requiem with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Sebastian Weigle in Oslo and Bach’s Matthäus Passion with the Collegium Vocale Gent under the baton of Philippe Herreweghe on tour in Katowice, Milan, Antwerp, Brussels, Hamburg, Munich and Innsbruck.
Konstantin Krimmel has been a member of the Bavarian State Opera since autumn 2021. There he will appear as Figaro in a new production of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro (director: Vladimir Jurowski) right at the beginning of the season 2023/24. He can also be heard as Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Belcore in Donizetti’s L’elisiser d’amore and Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte, as well as Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro at the May Festival in Wiesbaden.
Recently released on CD is “Die schöne Müllerin”, accompanied by Daniel Heide, on the Alpha label. In spring 2023, the album “Silent Songs” (Silvestrov) was released, which he recorded together with Hélène Grimaud. Previously on the Avi label, his new Lied CD “Franz Liszt – Der du vom Himmel bist” with Daniel Heide (piano) was released and in autumn 2022 the new CD entitled “Magic Opera in Vienna” (arias by Gluck, Wranitzky, Schack, Mozart, Haydn and v. Winter) accompanied by the Hofkapelle Munich under the baton of Rüdiger Lotter on the Alpha label. His first CD “Barockes-Passion” (together with the Ensemble Arcangelo under Jonathan Cohen) was released in March 2021 and the new and second album with Hélène Grimaud entitled “For Clara” (songs and chants by Johannes Brahms) will be released by Deutsche Grammophon in autumn 2023.
