In recent years, Alfred Brendel and Pierre-Laurent Aimard have often shared the stage in combined recitals featuring a fine selection of Brendel’s poems along with piano works by Kurtág and Ligeti. Their great mutual appreciation and their joint pleasure in performing this programme were clearly notable when they presented it at the Folkwang Museum for the Ruhr Piano Festival in 2018. Works by Kurtág and Ligeti will thus once more be the focus in Aimard’s solo recital dedicated to his dear friend on his 90th birthday.
