He is an icon of modern virtuosity and a long-time friend of the Festival. Pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard pays equal attention to so-called “contemporary music” and to the classical canon. This creates a feedback loop with excellent repercussions on his inspiring performances – with a clear analysis of the old and an empathetic feel for the new. For this evening’s recital he has selected key works of what has already become the historical avant-garde.
