Many acclaimed artists including violinists Vadim Repin and Maxim Vengerov are graduates of the Novosibirsk State Conservatory. Now it is a pianist from that same school who is preparing to conquer the world from Siberia: 19-year-old Roman Borisov. Currently supported by a scholarship provided by Denis Matsuev as well as by conductor Vladimir Spivakov’s foundation, Borisov is making his first appearance at the Ruhr Piano Festival – in a programme that puts many different facets of his art on his display.
