In 2019, Israeli pianist Tom Borrow stepped in on short notice for Khatia Buniatishvili, with only 36 hours to review and prepare the Ravel Piano Concerto. In the wake of that concert with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the audience and critics’ response was overwhelming. The press overflowed with superlatives, and Gramophone magazine praised Borrow for his elegance and individuality. Further concerts with the same orchestra soon ensued, including gala evenings in London and in Mexico City. In 2021, Borrow was selected for the prestigious BBC New Generation Artist programme. The young pianist loves to listen to the intimate, chamber-music sound of early-twentieth-century Chopin recordings, and his own playing is imbued with the same warm timbre: riveting, elegant, and finely nuanced. The year 2022 marks his debut performance at the Ruhr Piano Festival.
