The sound world of the young Istanbul artist Büşra Kayıkçı is a discovery.

She learnt the piano classically, but also took ballet lessons. She went on to study interior and environmental design.

She is now a shooting star of the so-called ‘new classical music’. She wants to use music to create spaces in which the listener’s soul can unfold. And she “wants to create something new. I have great respect for the classics. But they are already there! I want to use the language of new classical music to speak to people anew in the 21st century!” And yet her eyes light up when it comes to Beethoven. He is the best person to learn from to find one’s own way without compromise and to be innovative.

Büşra Kayıkçı

Born and raised in Istanbul, Türkiye, Büşra Kayıkçı was introduced at an early age to artistic interests such as the piano, ballet and painting. As a young person she became fascinated with the work of classical and contemporary artists in a variety of fields. In 2011, having studied interior architecture and environmental design, and inspired by composers such as John Cage and Nils Frahm, she began to incorporate musical elements into her concept of design.
