In her autobiographical book “House of Music: Raising the Kanneh-Masons,” Kadiatu Kanneh-Mason tells of the exciting daily challenge of raising seven children, all of whom turned out to have an exceptional musical gift. Sheku, the cellist, was the first to have his breakthrough by winning the BBC Young Musician Competition in 2016. Then Isata, the eldest of the seven, made a splash – last not least with her first performance at the Ruhr Piano Festival in 2021. She is now followed by 19-year-old Jeneba, who already caused a sensation at Wigmore Hall and on the occasion of her first appearance at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. For her début recital at the Ruhr Piano Festival, Jeneba Kanneh-Mason will perform a programme that is already impressive in terms of the wide variety of styles and composers she has chosen.
