Arcadi Volodos auf dem Klavierfestival Ruhr 2020

Unfortunately, Sir András Schiff fell ill at short notice. We thank Evgeny Kissin for his spontaneous generosity in saving the concert as a solo recital.

Johann Sebastian Bach Toccata and Fugue in D Minor BWV 565
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Adagio in B Minor KV 540
Ludwig van Beethoven Sonata No. 31 in A Flat Major op. 110
Frédéric Chopin Mazurkas (Selection) | Andante spianato et Grande Polonaise in E Flat Major op. 22

Zugaben:
J. S. Bach / F. Busoni: Nun komm der Heiden Heiland
W. A. Mozart: Rondo in D-Dur KV 485
F. Chopin: Polonaise in As-Dur op. 53 “Héroique”
F. Chopin: Walzer in f-Moll op. 70/2
Every time Sir András Schiff makes a guest appearance at the Ruhr Piano Festival, a unique experience is ensured: the legendary pianist not only fascinates our audiences with his colorful, poetic renditions, but also with his well-conceived programmes. We were all the more thrilled to hear him in last year’s surprise programme: appearing at the Festival for the 23rd time, Schiff sent the audience into raptures with works by Bach and Mozart, interspersed with his eloquent, profound, entertaining reflections. This year he will form a true star duo with Russian pianist Evgeny Kissin, who has conquered our concertgoers’ hearts five times in the past. Like Schiff, Kissin forms timbres with great sensitivity, imbuing the musical texture with clear lines and inner logic. We can thus look forward to a first-rate piano duo recital!
