While still in school, György Ligeti dreamed of pursuing a double career as a composer and as a scientist. Throughout his life, he maintained a high level of curiosity for a multitude of subjects, which led him to explore new kinds of sonorities and expression in his music. Ever since the beginning of the school year in the fall of 2022, pupils of primary and secondary schools in the borough of Duisburg-Marxloh have been getting to know Ligeti’s fascinating piano worlds, using them as a springboard for new discoveries in the domains of music and dance. Along with pianist Lorenzo Soulès, prizewinner of the renowned Orléans Piano Competition in 2022, these pupils will display the results of their creative projects in a one-hour presentation.
