Marie-Ange Nguci, whose piano playing is just one of her many endeavours in the world of music, has an insatiable appetite for education.

She is a doctoral student at the Sorbonne University in Paris, has a master’s degree in music education and studied orchestral conducting in Vienna for a year. She describes her childhood in Albania shortly after the civil war as formative: “The arts, and music in particular, were an important way to free oneself from the burdens and worries of everyday life.” Her programmes also reflect her desire to explore music in a dimension that transcends time and space, be it through mystical sound searches in Scriabin or through the works of Kapustin, which unite East and West as well as classical music and jazz.

Marie-Ange Nguci

Marie-Ange Nguci was accepted into the Paris Conservatoire at the age of 13 in Nicholas Angelich’s class. She plays organ and cello, and spent a year studying conducting at Vienna’s Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst.
