Again and again, he deals with the jazz tradition, dedicating highly original, partly multimedia projects to the legends James Reese Europe, James P. Johnson, Fats Waller and Thelonious Monk. On the occasion of Duke Ellington’s 125th birthday, Moran takes on the music of this great jazz innovator. Together with the hr-Bigband, which he conducts from the piano as the Duke once did, he presents his original arrangements for the Ellington Orchestra.
