Arcadi Volodos auf dem Klavierfestival Ruhr 2020

Franz Schubert: Moments Musicaux D 780
Helmut Lachenmann: Five Variations on a Theme by Franz Schubert
Ludwig van Beethoven: 33 Variations on a Waltz by Anton Diabelli op. 120

Domenico Scarlatti: Sonate in A-Dur K208
Lauma Skride thrills audiences worldwide as a chamber music partner – for instance in the Skride Piano Quartet with her sister, renowned violinist Baiba Skride – and as a piano soloist. In a review, Bavarian Radio (BR) praised her “wonderfully sensitive” playing, with its “magnificent timbres and virtuoso aplomb”. Lauma Skride has already performed twice with Anne-Sophie Mutter at the Ruhr Piano Festival, most recently in March 2022 on the occasion of a benefit concert organized to help Ukrainian children in need. The young Latvian pianist now returns: this will be the first time she performs a solo recital for the Festival. Lauma Skride has a particular penchant for Classical-Romantic repertoire. Thus, she will combine Schubert’s Moments musicaux with two variation works: Beethoven’s monumental Diabelli Variations and Helmut Lachenmann’s Variations on a Theme by Schubert, a work from the German composer’s youth, with a dancelike character inspired by the styles of Schoenberg and Stravinsky.
