Laureate of the 2010 Ruhr Piano Festival

Recital

Arcadi Volodos auf dem Klavierfestival Ruhr 2020

Frédéric Chopin: Polonaises (Selection from op. 26, op. 44, op. 53)
Sergei Rachmaninov: Ten Préludes op. 23

Grigory Sokolov is a “master of subtle hues, of melodic arcs, and of intermediate tones: the almost magical art of sound he produces can hardly be expressed in words”, wrote the magazine Concerti. “In Sokolov’s hands, each note is turned into great art: eloquent and highly expressive.” The legendary Russian pianist is well-known for his total dedication to the musical moment. Sokolov plunges into recital preparation for months: as a matter of principle, he only discloses the exact programme shortly before going on tour. Grigory Sokolov has been concertizing on the most important musical stages of the world: this shall be his 23rd appearance at the Ruhr Piano Festival.
