When French pianist Hélène Grimaud performed Schumann’s Kreisleriana at the Konzerthaus in Dortmund in 2019, the music critic at the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung was utterly convinced. “Not many other top-notch members of the piano elite are able to form the notes so organically.” Grimaud offered an interpretation “at the highest level of concentration and subtle nuance.” Grimaud now returns with Kreisleriana, paired this time with works by Chopin, Satie, and Silvestrov. At the Philharmonie in Essen, we will be able to experience how her approach to this gem of piano literature has further matured on the occasion of her 16th performance at the Festival.
