Arcadi Volodos auf dem Klavierfestival Ruhr 2020

n

At the age of 14, Nathalia Milstein entered the Geneva Conservatory of Music, where she received lessons from her father and several other professors. She went on to study in Berlin at the Barenboim-Said Academy – initially with Nelson Goerner, then with András Schiff. Her international career was launched when she won the 2015 Dublin International Piano Competition, after which she started making appearances in major classical music venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall and Wigmore Hall. One music critic has praised Nathalia Milstein’s “remarkable, natural musicianship” and her “particularly refined sensitivity”, which she will surely display once again in her début appearance at the Ruhr Piano Festival with Schubert’s Great Sonata in B Flat major, César Franck’s exquisite Prélude, Chorale and Fugue, and Rachmaninov’s Études-Tableaux. The Russian composer wrote the latter pieces in exile, finding inspiration in a wide variety of images: seascapes, village fairs, even a funeral march – all in all, a true emotional roller-coaster!
