Benjamin Moser and Liza Ferschtman gave a brilliant French music recital with the delian::quartet at the 2018 Ruhr Piano Festival: now, in 2022, the German pianist and the Dutch violinist return as a chamber music duo. They share a passion for unconventional programming, as well as the sheer joy of making music with friends and colleagues: no wonder, since they were both born into families of highly talented musicians. Liza Ferschtman studied violin in Amsterdam, then at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. She is not only a soloist, but also a well-known artistic director of renowned festivals and a chamber music partner of eminent musicians such as Elisabeth Leonskaja. A New York Times critic once praised the “laserlike intensity, purity and refined beauty of her playing.” Benjamin Moser is making his ninth appearance at the Ruhr Piano Festival. He attracted international attention as one of the major prizewinners at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Competition in 2007, and has received valuable artistic counsel from eminent teachers including Dmitri Bashkirov and Alfred Brendel.
