“I never put too much pressure on the keys: the sound always has to remain natural”. That is one of world-class pianist Seong-Jin Cho’s simple recipes for success. Natural musicianship is one of the hallmarks of Seong-Jin Cho’s art, and it served him well when he was still quite young. After having won the renowned Chopin Competition in 2015, Cho was invited the following year to guest in the series “The Best of the Best” at the Ruhr Piano Festival, and Chopin’s Préludes Op. 28 were already the backbone of his programme. Now Seong-Jin Cho finally returns to the Festival with the Polish composer’s four scherzos. You can also hear how acribically Cho pays attention to inner voices in the piano part and brings out the finest nuances when he performs Schubert lieder with baritone Matthias Goerne on 5 July 2021 in Bochum.
