Early art songs by György Ligeti written in the 1950s will be the central point of interest in Sarah Maria Sun’s vocal recital, as part of this year’s Festival focus on that Austro-Hungarian composer. One of those songs, “Erinnerung” on a text by Goethe, is a world premiere! All these early works are melodious, accessible, and written in a style featuring folklore elements. Sarah Maria Sun will combine these rediscovered gems with further art songs in a wide selection ranging from Schubert to Aperghis. In her vocal recitals with Jan Philip Schulze at the piano, she “always aspires to create an explosive experience, teeming with an abundance of variegated energies, styles, and associations”, affirms the virtuosic, multifaceted soprano. “Our greatest pleasure consists in wrapping together a bundle of virtuosity, intellectual stimulus, and raw emotion for our audience!”
